In case you haven't heard yet my ride or die, partner in crime, ghost hunting of a best friend is graduating from college this May - in just a few short weeks. I couldn't be more excited, happy, or proud of her! This is such a huge and amazing accomplishment.
Graduating isn't easy, whether it be college, high school, military academy, vocational school, or a doggy training program-talk about ruff-see what I did there? When we are young we imagine these lives for our selves. They are usually simple and involve graduating high school and college with ease, meeting the love of our lives, being incredibly successful, and having gloriously wonderful lives. However real life and adulthood isn't quite that simple-boy was that a shocker to find out! Life doesn't actually get easier, and adulthood isn't as fun as our parents made it look (damn them). It's all much more complicated and it involves a lot more responsibility then any of us probably like, but hey that's life and growing up.

College isn't a cookie cutter experience. Just like life. You don't go and graduate in four years, find a job, and start an amazing career right out of college. For those of you that did that, congratulations! Trust me I said that with as little resentment as possible, I am working on it in therapy haha. Some of us take longer to graduate, some of us never graduate, some of us leave and come back and leave again only to finally finish our degrees. Whatever your experience was in college it was uniquely yours, and it changed you. Hopefully for the better. College challenges us, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. It pushes us and forces us to grow and develop from immature high school students to (hopefully) critical thinking semi-capable adults.
Graduating college is an accomplishment to be proud of, no matter what your degree is in, how long it took you to do it, or what college you attended. Life is hard, and all life's accomplishments should be celebrated to the fullest. So lets celebrate Abbie's incredible accomplishment! Lets shout her name from the roof tops, give her cupcakes and flowers, and tell her how amazingly talented she is, because she deserves it.

Abbie will be graduating from the University of Utah on Friday, May 5th at 9:00 AM with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. For her senior project, Abbie wrote a paper on the paranormal in Religion-we were seriously meant to be best friends. In case you have missed my other posts about the amazing Abbie, we have worked together at the Jewish Community Center for the past seven years in the Youth and Teen Programs. We have been lucky enough to not only be co-workers but to become best friends over the years and have seen each other through many trials, tribulations, and ridiculous adventures. Currently, Abbie works as the Youth and Teen Program Coordinator at the JCC and spends her days herding cats-I mean kids-and planning fun filled summer days for future Bernie Campers.
Abbie and I have discussed the possibility of attending graduate school, something we would both like to do. However, more school at this point in time sounds a little daunting. So, Abbie is going to take a little school-cation and enjoy some time without homework while she decides exactly what the future holds for her. This girls future is bright, so grab some shades, and a drink, take a seat and wish her a hug congrats. Also check out these crazy cute photos :]
